THEATRE JEUNESSE

Lord of the Flies is an EYT+ show.

What's the difference between a regular EYT show and an EYT+ show?

Unlike normal EYT productions, EYT+ productions are selective, and students have to audition to get a part in them. With over 90 Senior students (i.e. aged 13-18) with varying levels of experience, we have a huge pool of talented actors to choose from. The students taking part in EYT+ shows are selected very carefully: we're looking for people who want to take drama seriously, and who will work hard to achieve an excellent performance. We're also careful to include a mix of experience and raw talent in the group: this means that students from all across the youth theatre take the lessons they've learned back to their respective groups, and strengthen the youth theatre as a whole. This also means that the group performing is different every year.

Additionally, EYT+ productions get more rehearsal time than regular EYT shows. In our Senior festival, the groups rehearse for 90 minutes a week, for 14 weeks. In an EYT+ production, the group meet once a week for 3 hours on a Sunday, and take part in highly focused rehearsals. They also take part in masterclasses during this time, which focus on building the key skills they will need for the show.
