EYT Talks To The West End Stars

Every Thursday evening this February, English Youth Theatre will be presenting its new webinar series "Inside The EYT Studio," where our students get the chance to chat with London theatre actors and professionals. These discussions will include a talk with the professional, as well as a question and answer session with our students. All events will be hosted by our patron, Rev. Simon Grigg, Rector of the Actors' Church, St Paul's Covent Garden, and prominent member of the West End theatre community. Below is a full list of the events.


04 Feb. 2021: Liz Robertson

Star of Cameron Mackintosh's 1979 West End production of My Fair Lady, and many others since, including the 25th anniversary of the Phantom of the Opera, as Madame Giry. Liz has performed on both Broadway and the West End, and has had starring roles in several classic musicals, including (but not limited to) My Fair Lady, Phantom of the Opera, Hairspray, Song and Dance and The King And I.

11 Feb. 2021: Rosemary Ashe

On Thursday the 11th of February, we’ll be talking with Rosie Ashe, star of the orignal cast of Phantom of The Opera, Les Misérables and Oliver!


She played Carlotta in Phantom, Madame Thénardier in Les Mis, and Felicia Gabriel in The Witches Of Eastwick (for which she was nominated for an Olivier Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Musical), among many many others!

18 Feb. 2021: Kerry Ellis & Toby Coles





















On Thursday the 18th of February, we’re talking with Kerry Ellis and Toby Coles, the star and principal trumpet in Wicked, as well as many other musicals! Kerry Ellis has been singing in musicals for more than two decades, having played roles like Elphaba in Wicked, Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady, Meat in the original cast of We Will Rock You, Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar, and many more! Toby Coles is a professional trumpet player who was the lead trumpet in Wicked. He has also played trumpet in several West End shows, including Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Evita, appeared on several albums of all genres (including Elbow's Cast of Thousands and Dead In The Boot), and worked in the music department of several films and TV shows. 25th of Feb. 2021: Janie Dee and Harriet Thorpe



















On Thursdays the 25th of February, we’re talking with Janie Dee, winner of the Olivier Award for Best Actress in Comic Potential, and Harriet Thorpe, star of multiple plays, films and TV shows, including Calendar Girls, Wicked, Les Misérables and Sweeney Todd! Janie Dee is a multiple award winning actor of the West End and Broadway, having performed in such musicals as Cabaret, Guys And Dolls, Cats and Oklahoma, and many more! She has also been in many TV shows and films, including House of Cards, Midsomer Murders and The Bill. Harriet Thorpe has starred in many West End musicals, including as Madame Thénardier in Les Misérables, Mrs Lovett in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street and Madame Morrible in Wicked. She has also had recurring roles in the sitcoms Absolutely Fabulous and The Brittas Empire. When the registration link is ready, we'll post it here!
