Stand-up masterclass: Siân Docksey

This summer, we're partnering up with former EYT student turned stand-up comedian Siân Docksey to offer a wonderful workshop in stand-up comedy! Across two sessions, students will learn how to write a stand-up set, comedy monologue or character piece. They will develop and test their material, and prepare for a performance. Those who want to can then take part in an online stand-up comedy performance with Siân on the second evening.

About Siân:

Siân Docksey is a BBC New Comedy Award nominated stand up comedian, writer and creative producer who loves to help other people's ideas travel from the dusty back drawer of their brains to the page, screen or stage. She has taken five shows to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival as both a solo stand-up and sketch comedy writer/performer (★★★★ "Joy and bewilderment in equal measure" - The Skinny; "Flat out hilarious" - The Wee Review; "Unalloyed joy... full of impish verve" - Chortle) and her first short film script Swan was recently produced as part of The Uncertain Kingdom's 20 short films about the UK today, starring Game of Thrones' Mark Addy and The Office's Sally Bretton. Siân is a 2020/21 Creative Fellow of Arts & Culture University of Exeter and holds a 1st Class BA (Hons) in Education with Drama & English from Cambridge University. Her creative writing workshops for all ages have been hosted by Wakefield Literary Festival, Buxton Opera House Digital Youth Theatre Festival and the Labour Party Yorkshire Women's Forum.
